Launched in 2016, our three-year project studies the interdependent transformations and shifting geographies of national film and television industries, focusing especially on professional and institutional practices with respect to production, distribution, and exhibition. Our research team explores transnationalization processes at the granular level, examining their forms, effects, and conceptual implications. We are especially interested in the ways that professional relationships, policies, and practices help to shape and transform media geographies during an era of intensifying globalization. Although this collaborative venture pays particular attention to French and American media, it also makes comparisons to other industries worldwide.
